As promised, here are a series of films that show what can be achieved when the will is there, and when people are given the rights to determine their own lives. This example is taken from China, and whilst it’s not strictly Permaculture, much of the thinking is the same. The use of terraces, re-planting trees, controlling grazing, is similar, but it also includes stuff that is like Keyline Planning, Mangam Terraces, and other ideas, which pre-date Permaculture, and which had a direct influence on it.
There are six clips to watch, lasting about an hour. The commentary isn’t exciting, no soundtrack, or fancy graphics, but a real lesson on what we might achieve, in all sorts of places, if we try.
Part Three will have more clips, and some thoughts about what this might mean, and perhaps ways that we might actually make a difference, here in the UK.
